Simon Anderson is the Managing Director of Ocean Avenue Ventures (OAV), a private investment and consulting firm with a focus on internet software, digital media and web analytics.
Simon is also currently Vice President, Strategy & Business Development at Authenticlick, Inc. (www.authenticlick.net), a venture-backed startup bringing web traffic quality intelligence to the online advertising marketplace. Authenticlick's patent-pending quality scoring platform leverages modern statistical techniques and a deep understanding of internet traffic quality to deliver powerful ROI optimization and measurement solutions for advertisers, ad networks and publishers.
Prior to Authenticlick, Simon was VP Strategy & Business Development at Affinity Internet, Inc.(www.affinity.com), a leading US-based web hosting, ecommerce and online marketing services company with over 200,000 customers funded by JP Morgan Capital, Columbia Capital and Wachovia Capital. Affinity was successfully sold to Hostway Corporation (www.hostway.com) in April 2007. Simon led the business development team responsible for winning and managing Affinity’s major strategic partners including AOL, eBay, Comcast, Microsoft, Google, Intuit and Costco. He also advised the CEO on company strategy and led the go-to-market teams for new products and services including website creator and ecommerce storefront applications and search engine marketing services.
Prior to joining Affinity in 2003, Simon was the US-based general partner of Allen & Buckeridge (www.a-b.com.au), a leading Australian venture capital firm investing in early stage IT and communications ventures with over US$200 million under management.
Simon started his professional career as a corporate and commercial lawyer in Sydney, Australia specializing in media, IT and communications transactions and advice. He held roles with Dunhill Madden Butler (now PWC Legal) (www.pwclegal.com.au) and Atanaskovic Hartnell (www.ah.com.au) before joining Allen & Buckeridge in 1999.
Simon earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) and a Law Degree (LLB/JD) from the Australian National University. He has been a guest lecturer at Stanford Graduate School of Business and completed executive programs on strategy and negotiation at Harvard Business School. He is a mentor to Australian startups looking to enter the US market under the ANZA Technology Network (www.anzatechnet.com) programs, and also Chair of Advance Global Australian Professionals (www.advance.org) in Southern California.
Simon is married to Maryam with a daughter Yasmin, and lives in Venice Beach, California.
